Better wishing on scars than stars

Forget the stars
we’re wishing on scars in the darkness.
Well-oiled wounds make it easier to slip through the cracks.

Let’s disappear together and start again
where we can only see the night sky and the light from the moon in our eyes.
We pray for comets to collide and start fires
to burn bridges we crossed to get here.

We’ll survive
if not in this life, I’ll find you in the next
I’ll trace the aching map along your spine
I’ll look for pills left behind
Leading me to you.

We’ll turn our dreams into small stones
that skip across the water
rippling, we’ll wonder if they ever have an end
like us.

My scar struck lover
I’ll carry you in my skin forever.
